Noch ein weiterer Riemenbericht ...

Ich habe diesen Riemen vor kurzem als Stoppmaß genommen und Junge war es ein Fehler. Der Riemen ist markenlos und hat nicht zu viel gekostet. Ich muss im Vorfeld sagen, dass ich die Farbe und das Leder mag ... den Rest ...

Schauen wir uns zuerst das Positive an ...

Der Riemen ist 29 cm lang und 20 mm breit. Der Riemen ist aus Leder, aber ich bin mir nicht sicher, was .. Sicher ist es moo .... :) OH, es ist vom NATO-Design.

Der Riemen ist 2 mm dick.

Die Hardware besteht aus Stahl und ist matt lackiert. Sehr schlechte Sicht. Ich mag.

Die Löcher für die Einstellung sind gut, sauberer Stempel. Die Gurte bieten eine Einstellung von 7 cm über 12 Löcher. Die Löcher sind ziemlich eng gestanzt.

Nun zum schlechten ...

Während der Schliff des Leders gut ist, lassen die Nähte viel zu wünschen übrig. Schau einfach mal. Es ist wirklich schlimm.

Ich bin mir nicht einmal sicher, welche Qualität der verwendete Thread hat und wie lange er hält.

Es ist nicht einmal gerade.

Der Haken an der Schnalle passt nicht zur Schnalle. Es sitzt nicht in der Rille der Schnalle. Alles, was es braucht, ist ein kleiner Schnitt. Seufzer..

  

Insgesamt ist der Riemen komfortabel, aber das Finish ist bestenfalls fragwürdig. Ich habe vor, den Riemen zu meinem Lieblingsbügelhersteller zu bringen und zu sehen, was er damit machen kann. :)

Unique Classic Watches

Classic watches to me would be watches that have a lasting & endearing appeal that would last a lifetime. They would usually be simple & easy on the eye regardless how old the owner can be. Pateks & Vacherons are renowned for coming up with everlasting models that doesn't seem to age regardless of the era that the owner bought it.

There are many affordable classic watches, new or old, but I prefer the older, vintage ones, which are more difficult to find. They have a rustic look with the aging of the dial & seems to warp us back to the past when we put them on, like the black & white movies of the 1940s, when the actors are always looking at their pocketwatches or Cartier wristwatch when they are waiting for someone. The new ones are usually a little too big (around 40-45mm) & can be very pricey if they are Swiss made mechanical ones. Buy them if you have the dough, but you are warned that the waiting time for the watch dial to age evenly would take a couple of decades.:)

Below is a example of an inexpensive white gold filled Bulova wristwatch made in 1950s, the sub second hand found at the bottom 6 o'clock position adds an nostalgic appeal & is a plus for the simple gray dial. The fancy flutted bezel adds a fun factor & is very unusual considering the amount of work involved to create it. The expandable band was used extensively in the past and is easy to wear, but if you have hairy wrists, be prepared for a free manicure every time you rush to take take it out. =)


Another fine sample of a simple classic wristwatch is this 1940s Longines tank watch, it has rectangular case, with a unique engine turned dial which looks similar to a mother of pearl dial. Lots of work for the dial maker, but this was the standard of the past. Again you can see the sub-seconds hand at 6 o'clock position. This was a common feature for watches before the 1950s era, it's a gene feature carried over from the early pocket watches. This sub-second hand is a good feature for the watchmaker & is used for monitoring its movement's timing. And it is also great for the user as a visual indication that the watch is running.

Interesting Vintage Chronographs

There are many affordable mechanical vintage chronograph watches if you know how to look, as chronograph movements are primary produced by a few manufactures in the past, they are purchased by many companies, both high end and mid range brands. So if a Landeron Caliber 48 is fitted to a Rolex, the price would be very different from another fitted into a Bulova Chronograph. If you are going for the brand, then you would be paying a higher price for the same watch with a different name. =)

But the choice of course is up to each individual collector, as nice vintage Rolex chronograph commands a better price at the auctions as compared to other brands. But if you are like me, going on a budget, a nice vintage chronograph with the same caliber as a Rolex is suffice for me. =)
